“Mechanical singing technique was very difficult for me; my rib mobility, lung capacity and diaphragm movement was more restricted than the average person’s."

Before I started singing lessons at age 17, singing had never been a big passion of mine. Sure, I sang in the shower and around the house, but I didn’t LOVE it or anything - eurgh.

When I started lessons, there was no explosion of “knowing this was My Thing”. It simply slipped into my life as if it had always been there.

I loved singing but I struggled. I was born with a swimmer's dip (pectus excavatum) which means that my ribs cave inwards. Any mechanical singing technique was very very difficult for me to do because my rib mobility, lung capacity and my diaphragm movement was more restricted than the average person’s.
